Captain Mack

In my Space Opera RPG captain Maximus "Mack" Dawson is the owner of the freighter-ship "Star-Hawk", on which the players travel all over the galaxy. Mack is a veteran of the Great Galactic War and fought on the side of Alpha-Centauri, as his father and grand-father had done before him. During the war Mack became disillusioned and disgusted with the realization that there was no point to the fighting, as the reasons for the war had been largely forgotten over the century it had lasted and the battles went on because of principle. When the war finally ended, Mack left the military and left Alpha-Centauri to seek his fortunes elsewhere.

Over the past decade he has worked as a smuggler and all-around entrepreneur, operating mainly in neutral space between the great nations. Because his ship is constantly in the need of repairs and on the verge of falling apart, he occasionally picks up travelers and offers cheap flights to certain destinations. It is through one such trip that he picks up many of the player characters that end up becoming a part of his crew.

Game-wise Mack is an NPC that is heavily inspired by Han Solo, Mal Reynolds, John Crichton and many other similar characters.
