Horst Gerlach von Heynmann

Doctor von Heynmann is the resident mad scientist on board the Star Hawk, specializing in genetics and tampering with biology. The doctor is a disgraced scientist of a dubious nature and is now traveling the galaxy to carry on with his experiments, which have landed him in trouble with the academic circles and the law. Genetic engineering is a taboo matter all over the civilized regions and von Heynmann's services aren't required by any military power in times of relative peace. He travels to fringe worlds where the populace are less judgmental and are often more willing to hire him, if that could increase their chances of survival. His faithful companion is Brutus, an uplifted dog on whom he has experimented whenever he can't find any other willing participants. von Heynmann has also experimented on himself a lot and given himself many useful animal attributes, which technically mean that he is legally no longer a human being and has no human rights any longer. That is why he travels with the crew of the Star Hawk, so as to keep a low profile from the authorities.
